Highly Anticipated Grand Opening to Happen on Saturday, June 7th with Full Evening of Entertainment & Festivities

A CITY enriched with one of the commonwealth’s deepest histories, Lowell is primed to add another gem to its legacy with the grand opening of The Lass Stop, a swanky new age jazz lounge boasting Southeast Asia inspired dishes and featuring the iconic art of global expressionist Giovanni DeCunto.

On Saturday June 7th, as part of the latest urban revitalization developments in the city, The Lass Stop will officially cut its red ribbon and open doors at 245 Central Street, the site of the former Cappy’s Copper Kettle, itself a beloved tavern for years a favorite spot of locals.

The initial reception and anticipation, owner Phili Kim says, has been nothing short of spectacular leading up to the grand opening.

“We’ve been very meticulous and deliberate with our approach to the launch,” he points out. “We unofficially soft launch opened this spring and the word of mouth marketing and buzz generated over the last couple of months has been truly exciting.”

Guests are able to enjoy a combination of sounds from  jazz influenced musicians and DJs at The Lass Stop in a chic upscale setting, designed to curate the swanky lounge vibes of contemporary cities throughout the world.

“It’s stunning,” Giovanni DeCunto -whose paintings are prominently decorated throughout the interior- states. “Every detail Phili and I described in the interaction and relationship of art and music was brought to life with this build out. People are going to love it.”

In addition to the gorgeous ambiance and music, guests will be able to indulge in a variety of specialty spirits and cocktails as well as a “refined street fare” Southeast Asia influenced cuisine including among its selections: Stuffed Cambodian Chicken Wings (a recipe straight from Kim’s mother’s kitchen); a 72-Hour Short Rib Skewer; Wild Gulf Shrimp Cocktail; Fresh-Shucked Oysters; and a Bo Kho Wellington.

The dish that has everyone salivating though, Kim says, is the Lobster Bao Bun, gunning for a Top 15 lobster roll listing in New England.

For the grand opening on Saturday, June 7th, festivities will kick off with the ribbon cutting at 4pm, followed by a private reception from 4-7pm. Doors will then open at 7pm with a featured set from DJ Skyhai leading into live music from the Willie J. Laws band.

Giovanni DeCunto along with several other local celebrities and influencers will be attending, and BostonMan Magazine is one of the co-hosts of the evening.

Among those most looking forward to the grand opening? Former Cappy’s Copper Kettle of 55 years owners Richard and Laurel Kapala, who will be helping to usher in The Lass Stop.

“The love and support from Mr. and Mrs. Kapala has been tremendous,” Kim says. “We have big shoes to fill and hope to live up to their expectations!”
