A POTENTIALLY game-changing new vodka spirit, with deep ties to Patron Tequila’s origins, announced recently it will be coming to Boston, with an exclusive launch event scheduled for Wednesday, January 29th at HUE in the Back Bay.

Since debuting in June 2024, Weber Ranch Vodka has turned the spirits industry on its head, not just for its smooth and enjoyable taste, but moreso (are you ready for this?) being the first EVER recognized vodka harvested and distilled from roasted agave.

“We are thrilled to be launching Weber Ranch Vodka in the vibrant Boston market,” Weber Ranch’s northeast executive Jake Murgio said. “Boston is a city that values authenticity and quality, making it a perfect match for our brand’s ethos.”

Blue Agave or ‘tequila agave’ is an agave plant that is an important economic product of Mexico, due to its role as the base ingredient of tequila. The high production of agavins in the core of the plant are the main characteristic that makes it suitable for the preparation of alcoholic beverages. But until now, it has never been the base ingredient in a vodka.

Enter Weber Ranch Vodka.

“We are uniquely crafted from 100% Blue Weber Agave and are certified additive-free,” Murgio explained. “It stands out as a naturally carb- and gluten-free spirit, thanks to the inherent qualities of the Agave plant. This resonates with health-conscious and flavor-focused consumers alike.”

The New York World Spirits Competition, a prestigious contest run by The Tasting Alliance, (the same group that runs the San Francisco World Spirits Competition) named Weber Ranch Vodka it’s ‘Best in Show’ winner for 2024 -a rare honor bestowed upon a brand relatively in its infancy as Weber Ranch is.

Murgio credits this and other accolades being received to how Weber Ranch Vodka is proprietarily distilled, with many of the company’s key cogs having previously played crucial roles with the development and success of the tequila brand, Patron.

Weber Ranch Master Distiller Antonio Rodriguez  formerly was the Production Director at Patrón Tequila in Mexico, managing a team of 1,500 people. He led brand education and consumer insight efforts for the Patrón portfolio in the U.S.

At Patrón, Rodriguez not only oversaw all aspects of the brand’s production, aging, and bottling, he was also responsible for quality control of the agave that was selected for every bottle of Patrón tequilas and liqueurs.

Rodriguez’s lineage runs strong. He was mentored at Patron by Master Distiller Francisco Alcaraz, who created Patron’s iconic tequila flavor nearly fifty years ago.

Alcarez, who is widely regarded as the ‘Godfather of Tequila’ is praised for -among many other honors- being the longest serving master distiller in the tequila sector.

“He revolutionized the industry, creating an ultra-premium category for tequila,” Rodriguez said of his mentor. “It always impressed me how humble he was after all his success creating a globally iconic brand and changing a whole industry. That’s something I will always carry with me.”

“Francisco and Antonio are the two best in the world at what they do,” Murgio proudly stated.

For the Boston launch event at HUE on 1/29 Rodriguez will be on hand to demonstrate the distillery process of Weber Ranch Vodka; provide red carpet photo opportunities on the step & repeat along with other special guests; participate in a Q&A session with attendees, and -of course- reveal how he was able to take the most iconic tequila agave and turn it into a vodka consumers are craving.
