IN BOSTON and around the world, people turn to gaming in times of need. A pastime that has evolved significantly in recent times, people are joining clubs and becoming members of an array of welcoming gaming communities, whether it’s popular sports titles like EA SPORTS FC 25 or battle royale favorites like Fortnite. But, while some people occasionally play games, diehard gamers are a completely different breed.
Immersing themselves in a wide range of titles, there are diehard gamers everywhere these days. Given the ever-changing stigma surrounding gaming, it has become an entertainment option that is no longer associated with darkened bedrooms and antisocial individuals. In fact, gaming has evolved to become a far more common entertainment option, with genres as diverse as esports, immersive VR, and social casino games at platforms like McLuck.com, complementing the more commonly recognized gaming activity on PC, console, and mobile.
However, some gamers are more committed than others. So, with that in mind, below we share some of the key signs that will help you determine whether you’re a diehard gamer or not.
1 – Gaming is all that matters
Gamers come in all shapes and sizes, but diehard gamers are generally always playing some sort of game. Sure, the trash needs taking out and there’s a community event to attend, but, ultimately, gaming is all that really matters. Days feel incomplete without it; everything else is just a bit too boring, and every minute of your day is consumed by your latest virtual escapades. Of course, a balance needs to be struck here, but overall, diehard gamers struggle to think about anything else.
2 – Marathon sessions are normal
While most people struggle to fathom how someone can sit on the couch and take down bosses for around six hours a day, diehard gamers view it as a normal thing to do. Marathon gaming sessions just come with the territory of being an avid player, and it’s something dedicated gamers embrace. Additionally, short bursts of gaming just don’t cut it. While you can still get plenty of enjoyment from a short session on your PlayStation 5, you’re still left wanting more. As such, dedicating an entire morning or evening to a game or two is a preference. In the same way people indulge in movie binges and spend hours cooking up feasts, diehard gamers do the same.
3 – You Are Connected to the community
As we’ve already touched on when referencing the array of gaming communities out there, dedicated players also immerse themselves in online forums and social groups associated with their favorite products. For example, aforementioned titles like EA Sports FC 25 have millions of fans behind them, many of whom converse on social media sites like X. Likewise, Fortnite is one of the biggest games ever, with lovers of the game attending various events dedicated to it. Additionally, diehard gamers form bonds with fellow players; they share strategies and tips, and so much more.
4 – It’s all you talk about
While you might occasionally take part in political debates and talk about family matters with loved ones, gaming is always your topic of choice when you’re chatting with people. Also, if you meet someone who doesn’t know what a VR headset is, then you’ll move on to the next person. Likewise, if you’ve completed a game or finally taken down a formidable boss, then you’ll want to share the news immediately. After all, what’s more interesting to talk about?
5 – You own Gaming-related gear
Be it through posters, t-shirts, or even smartphone cases, you show off your love of gaming with pride. In the same way sports fans wear team jerseys, you always showcase your passion.
