THERE is a specific kind of magic that only happens when the humidity rises off the pavement, the sun dips late behind the Citgo Sign, and the entire city of Boston seems to breathe in unison.

If you’ve spent any time walking these streets over the last few months, you know exactly what I’m talking about. We have just witnessed something truly special. History will remember it as the Magical Summer of ’26.

But for those of us who live it, breathe it, and invest our souls into this community, it was a profound reminder of who we are, why we care, and why—even in the most turbulent of times—we must never stop believing in the decency of humanity.

Turn on the news or scroll through your feed, and you’re bombarded with noise, conflict, and a persistent narrative that the American experiment is fracturing.

Looking at the headlines over the last six years, it’s exhausting. We’ve been fed a steady diet of negative media cycles and hidden agendas designed to do one thing: divide us. It has ostracized families, torn apart political parties, crippled our beloved small businesses, and flat-out dampened the energy of even the most spirited.

I have felt it as much as anyone. The polarization, the uncertainty. It has brought out the absolute worst in so many. There were days it felt heavy. Days where the noise -the cruelty of mankind- could have won.

But even at my weakest, in my most vulnerable moments where the weight of it all perhaps could have felt too much to bear, the fighter -my spirit- remained.

Because in my heart? I know this is not who we are. America can be messy. It always has been. But in that messiness breathes character. It can breathe beauty.

I’ve lain awake many nights, asking if we could just look past the bickering to see who we have been we could see who we are once again capable of being. If people could just see America through the same lens I do- we can once again come together.

I have felt the immense pain of these past few years, believe me. But deep down in my bones? I will never lose hope for humanity. Not for a single second.

And then it happened. This summer Boston offered a beautiful, undeniable counter-narrative. We became the canvas for a picture of peace, love, and unity that echoed far beyond New England.

WE FELT that energy early on. BostonMan Magazine and our incredible Legacy Club professional community officially kicked off the season in spectacular fashion with our “Summer of Champions” cocktail mixer.

Hosted on World Cup opening night at the stunning InterContinental Boston, the evening was electric, capped off with a brilliant USMNT victory.

The Legacy Club isn’t just a networking group; it is a family. And that night, we set the tone for everything this summer was meant through the pure power of connection.

That opening night foreshadowed a global movement, as the eyes of the entire world turned to our doorstep for the 2026 World Cup.

Spearheaded by Boston Soccer 26, our home transformed into a Global Village.

People from every corner of the planet, speaking dozens of languages, draped in different flags, were high-fiving on the T, sharing tables at our restaurants, and laughing together.

There was no politics. There was no division. There was just a shared human experience bound by the love of a game.

Standing in the middle of that crowd, I didn’t see a world pulling apart. I saw a world coming together.

Our waterfront took center stage for Sail Boston 2026. Looking out at the harbor, watching majestic tall ships cut through the water just as they did centuries ago, you couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of awe.

It was the perfect prelude to the grand America 250 celebrations. Two hundred and fifty years of this wild, imperfect, beautiful journey we call the United States.

Boston is the birthplace of the American spirit, and this summer, we reminded the world that the foundational promise of this country—liberty, unity, and the relentless pursuit of a better tomorrow—is still very much alive.

YOU can’t talk about a summer in the hub without talking about our sports franchises, where ‘Boston is a Brotherhood.’

First, the shockwave. The Jaylen Brown trade shook the city to its core. For the last ten years Jaylen was a pillar of our community, a man who gave his all to the Celtics franchise and the city both on and off the court. This city can’t ever thank him enough for all he gave us. We will one day undoubtedly see Number 7 in our hallowed rafters, alongside the Banner 18 he helped raise.

Just when the city needed a collective lift, our attention shifted to Yawkey Way. The Sox, all but dead, caught lightning in a bottle, the week we said goodbye to Jaylen.

Embarking on a magical winning streak that captured the imagination of baseball fans everywhere, the ‘Tarps Off’ rallys at Fenway fueled a spirited 21-4 record during the month of July propelling the Sox to be in position for a potential postseason bid.

Fenway Park was no more magical than on my birthday, August 17 where the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund joined forces once again for their historic annual radio-telethon at Fenway Park, where I spent the evening with my nephews.

As the stories of brave children fighting cancer filled the airwaves, the people of Boston, New England, and beyond opened their hearts and their wallets in a historic way, surpassing $7.3m in donations, the most ever in its twenty-four years.

The magic of spending my birthday with five of the most important people in my life while being part of such a beautiful cause defined the Summer of ’26 for me.

YET as beautiful as this summer was, it did not come without immense sadness. We lost two of our most loved and cherished Legacy Members, taken from us far too soon. Their absence leaves a massive void in our hearts, but their impact on our community is permanent.

Ed Naczi was the absolute bedrock of our community—the first ever member of our Legacy Club, signing on all the way back in June of 2018. From day one, Ed believed in the vision. His signature smile, his boundless energy, and his magnetic charisma truly defined who we are and what we have been building all these years. He showed us what it meant to lead with warmth.

The exact same holds true for the irreplaceable Jaime “Sparkles” Cholaki. Her name said it all. Jaime’s positivity, her vibrant spirit, and her capacity for love were entirely unmatched. She brought a brilliant light into every room she stepped into, reminding us all to find the joy in the everyday hustle.

Ed and Jaime represented the absolute best of us. They taught us how to live, how to connect, and how to love deeply. We carry them forward in everything we do.

WHEN I look back at the Magical Summer of ’26, I won’t just remember the goals scored, ships sailing, or games won. I will remember the feeling of a community operating at its absolute highest frequency. I will remember the collective decency of a people who refuse to let the turbulence of the world harden their hearts.

We are a city built on grit, passion, and an unbreakable bond. We show up for each other. We celebrate together, we mourn together, and we build together.

This summer proved that the soul of this city, and the soul of this country, is vibrant, resilient, and deeply compassionate.

As we head into the crisp autumn days and turn the page to a new season, let’s carry the magic of this summer with us. Let’s remember the unity of the global stage, the wonder of the tall ships, the thrill of the ballpark, and the profound generosity of the Jimmy Fund.

Let’s honor the legacies of Ed and Jaime by living with the same energy, love, and sparkle that they gave to us. Let’s see the world the same way Ed and Jaime did. The way we all did during that Magical Summer of ’26.

Let’s continue to do our part. Because this is our home. This is why we care. This is what makes us Boston. And this is exactly why we will never stop believing in America.
