BOSTON- On Thursday October 23rd, the team behind Boston’s Runway Ball made a blockbuster announcement, revealing that critically acclaimed designer and Braintree native, Michael DePaulo, will be headlining their Season 3 cast of designers for the December 14th annual show at Hilton Boston Park Plaza.
Known for his sculptural bridal and evening-wear -and widely regarded as one of the top luxury gown designers in the world- DePaulo’s work has garnered Hollywood’s elite including Carrie Underwood, Gwen Stefani, Kate Beckinsale, Camila Cabello, Lea Michele, and Carmen Electra among others.
This August, the jaw-dropping red ballgown Underwood wore on her 2020 Christmas album titled ‘My Gift’ was donated by DePaulo and the 8x Grammy winning artist to the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, where it is now prominently displayed.
“I’m super excited to be a part of this stunning show,” said DePaulo, who now resides in New York City, where he operates his Michael DePaulo Couture. “From what I’ve seen, this truly looks like a production unlike anything else in the area.”
“Ecstatic would be an understatement,” show producer Amanda Vargus said when asked her reaction on landing DePaulo. “We’ve been in discussions with Michael for two years now; I’m truly grateful he trusts our show to represent his brand and to showcase his beautiful designs.”
Entertaining a dramatic and edgy ‘Dark Romance’ theme, this year’s Runway Ball will once again feature six designers, with DePaulo closing the show, Vargus said.
Show co-producer Matt Ribaudo hinted that more big announcements could be forthcoming in the next few weeks as well.
“We have an absolutely stacked lineup this year,” he said. “And I’m not just referring to our ultra-talented designers. Wait until you see our musicians that will be performing in various capacities for Season 3.”
